To ensure smooth data import, the connection between Mercury and the source system (e.g., ad server or DSP) must be valid at all times. Occasionally, manual re-authentication is required to renew the access authorization key (token).
Reasons for re-authentication
There are various situations where you need to manually update a connection – some examples include:
- Token expiration: For security reasons, many systems limit the validity period of access keys.
- API Upgrades: When an interface is updated, a new login is often necessary to activate new features or security standards.
- Security blocks: In case of unusually high data fetches, systems may require manual confirmation.
Step-by-step instructions
Follow these steps to perform the authentication:
- In the main menu, navigate to the Data Integration module. You will automatically land in the Connections overview.
- Find the corresponding tile of the technical system you want to re-authenticate.
- Check the status at the top right of the tile: A badge shows you whether the validation is currently successful or has failed.
- Click on the Edit icon (paper and pen) on the tile. A window will open.
- Select the option Regenerate token.
- You will be redirected to the login page of the respective system. Log in there with the credentials that Mercury should use for the data fetch.
- Follow the process of the third-party system until you are automatically redirected back to Mercury.
Note: The status of the connections is usually updated in the morning and early afternoon. After re-authentication, the connection should immediately be marked as successful again.
