If you change the ID in a delivery system after the fact, you must ensure that all historical data is correctly recorded in Mercury. Since the automatic import usually only covers a limited period, manual intervention is required.

Background on data import

  • Automatic import: Mercury usually imports data from your connected technical systems every night.
  • Time window: Depending on the configuration of your Data Pipeline, data is usually only imported retroactively for the last three to ten days.

Impact of ID changes

If you change the Adserver Placement ID of a placement, Mercury will automatically recognize this with the next import for the set period. However, if the campaign start is further in the past than the import time window, gaps will occur:

  • Data from the last few days will be correctly assigned with the new ID.
  • Data prior to the retroactive period will not be updated automatically.
  • This leads to incomplete or incorrect realized data in your reporting.

Recommended procedure

To ensure a complete data history, you should proceed as follows:

  • Trigger a manual import via the corresponding Data Pipeline.
  • Select the period retroactively from the start of the campaign to capture all data with the new assignment.

Note: If you do not have the necessary permissions for manual data imports, please contact your Super Users.
