You can create a Proposal Template in two ways. The choice depends on whether you want to use an existing Inventory Item as a basis or create a new, independent template.

Method 1: Create Proposal Template from an Inventory Item (Inheritance Logic)

This method is ideal for dynamically adopting the buying structure of your Inventory Item. All content of the Item is transferred to the template:

  1. Navigate to the Inventory submenu in Inventory Management.
  2. Find the desired Inventory Item in the table.
  3. Click the Plus-in-a-Circle Icon in the Actions column.
  4. Mercury opens the form for the Proposal Template, which now contains the Item's data.

Controlling Inheritance in the Form

In the form, you will see an Inheritance Toggle next to certain metrics. This toggle controls the dynamic relationship with the original Inventory Item:

  • Toggle Active (Standard): The contents (values) are dynamically inherited from the Inventory Item. If the value changes in the Inventory Item, it automatically changes in the Proposal Template as well.
  • Toggle Deactivated: The content is no longer dynamically linked to the Inventory Item. You can now overwrite the value, and the template will retain this value even if the Inventory Item is updated later.

For metrics without this toggle, the Item's content is adopted once and can be overwritten, but it will not change if the Inventory Item is updated.

Method 2: Create a New Proposal Template Directly

You choose this method when you want to create a template independently of an Inventory Item—for example, because buying conditions and the proposal are identical or because the content differs significantly (e.g., for trading packages). In this case, you create the template directly in the Proposal Templates menu.

  1. Navigate to the Proposal Templates menu in Inventory Management.
  2. Click the Add Item button in the top right.
  3. Fill out the form, and click Save.

Note: Proposal Templates facilitate the creation of Proposals. Proposals can also only be created from them. They generally contain all necessary selling data, so you only need to supplement the specific briefing details when creating the final Proposal later.
