A discount-in-kind is an additional advertising service provided at no extra cost. It applies across all media channels and can refer to impressions, placements, or runtimes. Typically, it is recorded as either a volume or cost amount – either as a fixed value or a percentage of reach or budget. Instead of a price reduction, you receive more advertising value for the same price.
In Mercury, you can record up to three different discounts-in-kind (1-3) per plan item. The following details must be specified:
- Assigning a name
- Selecting a discount-in-kind type (see also How do I create Discount-in-Kind types?)
- Optionally, adding a comment
Each of the three discounts-in-kind can be defined as:
- A percentage applied to
- A specific cost level (Gross to N/N/N)
- Or the invoiceable volume
- A specific volume (= invoicing unit)
- A fixed cost amount
By default, Mercury automatically sets the planned value as the realized value. However, this can also be adjusted independently if needed.
