To organize your work in Mercury, you use what are known as category trees. Think of them as a folder structure that allows you to create a clear and flexible hierarchy for locations, clients, or products. This article explains the benefits of this system.
Note: When you log in for the first time, the category structure will be empty. It will only be populated once you or your administrator create the first categories.
The Advantages of a Category Structure
- Maintain Overview: Categories help all users to quickly find their way around the system.
- Control Access Rights: Administrators can define exactly which users are allowed to access which data.
- Manage Data Centrally: Important information for media planning (e.g., fees, billing data, or ad server conditions) is stored directly within categories. This ensures consistency and prevents errors, as only authorized users can manage this data.
Examples of Category Trees
A structure can be built individually, for example, like this:
- Frankfurt > Client A > Furniture > Tables > 2025
- Client A > Product 1 > EMEA > Spain > TV
- Client B > Brand Campaigns > 2025 > Summer
