Prerequisites

  • Edit rights for the campaign or media plan
  • At least one line item exists

Copying without carrying over the AdServer Placement ID (simple copy)

If you want to copy a line item without carrying over the existing AdServer Placement ID – for example because none exists or you intentionally do not want to duplicate it – proceed as follows:

  1. Right-click the desired line item
  2. Select Create copy
  3. Mercury will then create a new copy of the line item, always without an AdServer Placement ID

Copying while carrying over the AdServer Placement ID

If your line item contains an AdServer Placement ID, you can choose to include it when copying. But what is the advantage – and how does it differ from copying without the ID?

Example:
Suppose you create a line item for January, including an AdServer Placement ID. Later, you need the same line item again, but with a runtime in February.
Since the AdServer Placement ID of the January line item is linked to a technical system, it already receives actual delivery data. This setup should also apply to the February line item. In this case, you can copy the January line item in Mercury including its AdServer Placement ID.

Important to note:
Within a Mercury tenant, there must never be two line items with the same runtime and the same AdServer Placement ID.
Therefore, Mercury creates a copied line item with the same ID, but automatically applies the runtime of the following month.
A practical benefit: you can intentionally use this behavior as a feature to quickly create line items across multiple months without having to manually adjust the runtime each time.

How to copy a line item including the AdServer Placement ID:

  1. Right-click the desired line item
  2. Select Create copy within Ad Schedule
  3. Mercury will create a new copy of the line item including the AdServer Placement ID and with the new runtime
