Channels (or media channels) are used in Mercury to classify media carriers (e.g., TV, Online, Social). They are directly linked to the media carriers and thus appear in your media planning.
How to find the channel management
- Open the main menu (☰) in the top right.
- Click on the "Reference Data" menu item.
- In the navigation on the left, select "Channels".
How to create a new channel
- In the channel overview, click the "+ Channel" button in the top right.
- Fill in the fields. The following information is required:
- Name: The name of the channel (e.g., Digital).
- Channel type: Select a parent type from the list (e.g., Online).
- Channel group: Assign the channel to a group.
- Optionally, you can add an Abbreviation.
- Click "Save" to create the new channel.
How to edit a channel
To edit an existing channel, simply double-click the corresponding cell in the table and enter the new value. Your change is saved automatically.
How to deactivate (soft-delete) a channel
When you click the trash can icon, a channel is not permanently deleted but only deactivated (soft-delete). This means:
- It remains in all existing plan items where it has already been used.
- However, it can no longer be selected for new planning.
Important note on external data
Some channels may originate from external data sources (e.g., Mediaservice Wasmuth). These cannot be edited or deleted in Mercury.
