When working in Projects, Mercury differentiates between a Draft and a Version:
- Draft (Entwurf)
A Draft is your current working status. All changes you make to your Objectives Flowchart are initially saved as a Draft.
- The Draft is only visible to you and all users who have access to the respective category. It has no impact on the further Media Workflow or Reporting.
- You can continue to edit the Draft, discard it, or submit it for approval at any time. Upon approval, it becomes a new Version.
- Version
A Version represents an approved, final, and historically relevant state of your Objectives Flowchart.
- The latest Version is the "Live" status of your planning and serves as the basis for Reporting and further processes.
- Every Version is immutable. As soon as a Draft is approved, Mercury automatically creates a new, numbered Version (e.g., v1, v2, v3). Earlier Versions remain as a reference.
User Story: Imagine you are adjusting the budgets of different Sub-objectives within your project. As long as you are working on it, this is your Draft. As soon as your manager approves the planning, it becomes a new, valid Version. From this moment on, all subsequent processes – for example, campaign objective targets – are based on this new Version.
