Technical Components are created centrally in the Technical Components menu. Only then can they be assigned to Buy Items or Proposals. This allows technical costs such as DSP or AdServing fees to be integrated directly into the planning.

Prerequisites and Creation

To create a component, you need the corresponding global right (e.g., Inventory Management (Admin)) and proceed as follows:

  1. Navigate to the Technical Components menu in Inventory Management.
  2. Select the Company for which the component should be valid. This is necessary for it to be included in the Items.
  3. Select the appropriate system from the list of Technical Systemsfor which you want to create a new component.
Note: If the system is not listed, you can add it in the Reference Data under the "Technical Systems" section.
  4. Click the Create Technical Component button.
  5. Assign a unique Name in the Description of the Technical Componentsection (e.g., "Adform | DSP Fee Buy" or "GCM | AdServing Sell").

Note on Naming: Use names that clearly distinguish between buying and selling prices. Add the name of the technical system if necessary to avoid confusion.

  6. Under Invoiced by (or similar), define the desired logic – e.g., invoicing by Impressions, Clicks, or as a percentage of cost.
  7. Enter the Price or Percentage Valuein the field above that Mercury should use for calculating the technical costs.
Note: Depending on the selected invoicing logic, you enter either a price or a percentage value here. Mercury automatically adjusts the currency symbol.
  8. Optional:
    1. Contract Partner: Define whether the agency or the advertiser is invoiced for the costs by the provider.
    2. Type of Component: Define the type (e.g., Ad Delivery, Setup Fee, Impression Tracking). This information simplifies later selection in the Proposal or Buy Item.
    3. Flight Date: Optionally set a condition (e.g., "only usable in 2026"). The component automatically becomes unavailable after this flight date expires.
  9. Click Save. The technical component is now immediately available for Proposals and Buy Items of the selected Company.
