When you generate a Proposal Template from an existing Inventory Item, you can use the Inheritance Toggle for individual metrics to determine whether the values should be dynamically adopted from the Item. This ensures that certain content, such as selling prices, automatically adjusts if the buying conditions change.
Controlling via the Inheritance Toggle
You will find the Inheritance Toggle in the edit form of the Proposal Template next to the corresponding metrics, provided the template was created from an Inventory Item. It controls the link to the original Inventory Item:
- Toggle Active (Standard)
- Purpose: Dynamic adoption of the values.
- Consequence: The value is directly inherited from the Inventory Item. If the value changes in the Inventory Item, the value in the Proposal Template is automatically updated.
- Toggle Deactivated
- Purpose: Static fixation of the value.
- Consequence: The content is no longer dynamically linked to the Inventory Item. You can now overwrite the value, and the template retains this static value, even if the Inventory Item is updated later.
Metrics Without an Inheritance Toggle
For metrics that do not have an Inheritance Toggle, the content of the Inventory Item is adopted once. While you can overwrite these values, they will not be updated if the Inventory Item is edited later.
