This article describes basic use of tables in the planning interface (media plan and offers list).

Introduction

Both the media plan and the offer list are represented as tables in Mercury Media.

Mercury Media provides a number of options for customising the appearance of tables. For example, you can customise

  • the order of columns in the table.
  • how items are sorted in the table.
  • how items are grouped in the table.
  • whether to show a group’s share in overall performance.

Instructions

Displaying columns

The media plan and offer list are comprised of columns, e.g. “Publisher”, “Medium”, “Runtimes” etc. You can choose these columns according to your needs:
.
.

  • Click the button to open the column select menu. All columns that are selected in the current view are displayed at the top.
    .
    .
  • Click into the empty field below the selection. All other columns that can be selected will appear in alphabetical order.
    .
    .
  • If you want to add a new column, select one from the column set on the right by scrolling up and down or enter a search term into the input mask. Our word recognition feature will assist you. Search results will include all terms that contain the search term. Search term example: “Cost”.
    .
    .
  • Click the desired term to add it at the end of the table.
    .
    .
  • Click outside the selection window to close it.

Hiding columns

  • Click the button to open the column select menu.
    .
    .
  • Click the “x” at the top of a select column to delete it from the view.

Changing column order

Use “drag & drop” to customise the column order.

  • Click and hold the column label and drag it to the desired location.
    .

Sorting items

Tables can be sorted by any column. Items in grouped table views are sorted within the relevant group.

  • Click the column based on which you want to sort the media plan.
    .
    .
  • Click the column again to sort in reverse order.

Grouping table views

Grouping table views can help organise a plan, e.g. through grouping by month.

You can also use groups to visualise strategic considerations taken into account, e.g. through grouping by publisher/medium.

Some of the columns in grouped media plans are aggregated at the group level (as sums or averages).

Grouped tables can also be sorted by columns. This will sort all groups by the same column.

Grouping by labels

Depict even more specific and individual structures by assigning a plan item to a label and sorting by the relevant label.

Example: Delivering a campaign to two different target groups.

  • Select “Label 1” from the column set and add it to your plan view.
    .
    .
  • Double-click “Label 1” column to enter a text that, for example, reflects the inventory category, e.g. “Tier 1”.
    .
    .
  • Repeat the above step for all plan items you want to assign to this group.
    .
  • Group by “Label 1”. Your view will be re-grouped.
    .

Show/hide shares

You can use the grouping feature for certain columns to display the share of individual groups in the total amount (e.g. Forecast: ad impressions or Cost (N/N/N). This feature is only available in the media plan.

  • Click “Show shares” or “Hide shares”.
